The Seiko Prospex PADI Special Edition Solar Analog-Digital Diver's Watch is a tribute to adventure seekers. Crafted in collaboration between Seiko Prospex and PADI, the premier scuba diver training organization, it boasts the advanced H855 caliber movement, paying homage to the pioneering H558-5000 introduced in 1982 as the world's inaugural analog-digital hybrid diver's watch with an alarm and chronograph. This iconic timepiece served as crucial gear for the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition and the 1988 Mt. Everest challenge by the Japan/China/Nepal team, earning it a cult following in '80s action films.
Engineered for deep-sea diving, this edition integrates indispensable features like a diving log, auto-start depth meter with a sudden ascent alarm, and water temperature measurement, meeting ISO standards for scuba diving. The globe-patterned black dial, complemented by LumiBrite hands and markers, showcases vivid blue accents for heightened legibility. The enlarged digital display enhances visibility of chronograph, alarm, time, date, local time, and power reserve readouts.
Durable yet lightweight, the watch is encased in rugged stainless steel with a matte black protector. A black silicone strap complements the design. It incorporates a screw-down crown, pushers, and caseback, along with a unidirectional rotating elapsed timing bezel. The solar cell, powered by any light source, grants a 6-month reserve on full charge, eliminating the need for battery replacements.
