Seiko King 1st generation Special Dial VWS-1980

Here is a wonderful, all original 1st generation King Seiko from 1962. The silver sunburst dial has taken on a lovely and mostly even patina. This is a so-called Special Dial (SD), with wide and chunky solid white gold markers. The faceted dauphine hands are in very fine condition. The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear, perhaps most notable at around 2, 5 and 6 o’clock. The stainless steel case with the original crown and elegant, long lugs is in very fine condition with light wear, also on the crown. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved shield medallion and is in very fine condition with just a few small marks. The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality. Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 54A-based King Seiko movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2022 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning. The first generation KS is not easy to find anymore and when in this condition they are a real find. This is a gem of a watch that will add to any collection while also being a wonderful watch to wear as part of a regular rotation schedule.
