Seiko King 45-7000

Description

Seiko King 45KS 45-7000

In the mid-1960s, Seiko's Suwa and Daini factories entered the Swiss chronometer trials to push their technical limits. These trials, which emphasized long-term accuracy over several days, led both factories to experiment with high-beat movements to achieve sustained precision. The first King Seiko models to feature the renowned Caliber 45, produced by Daini for the Neuchatel Chronometer trials, were the no-date 45-7000 and the date-equipped 4502-7000, released in 1968. The case design, evolving from the earlier 4420-9990, featured distinctive 'wings' extending from each upper lug to the lower lug on either side of the central cylinder. These wings became a hallmark of King Seiko case designs, appearing in both the 56KS series, sold alongside the 45KS series, and the later 2001 SCVN001 re-issue. The dial of the Ref. 45-7000 was similar to the 44KS dials, with the same white sunburst base. The elongated, rhodium-plated markers on the 45KS dials now included a black stripe for better visibility. The hands also had a central black stripe to match the markers but were simpler in construction, lacking the previous generation's machined edge bevel. The King Seiko script was replaced in the 45KS series by a more straightforward 'KS' logo at 6 o'clock above the new 'HI-BEAT' text. The King Seiko 45-7001 is a remarkable watch, well worth considering if you want to own a piece of history. For those wishing to experience the Showa era, we offer a rare complete set deadstock example: Impeccably preserved with all original tags, straps, a rare flat KS buckle, and the box and outer box. ___ Condition report ___ Overall, this 45KS is spectacular. The case is factory sharp and evidently well-kept, there are some light scratches due to storage which is expected. The dial and hands are immaculate with no sign of stains or deterioration. The glass has no visible scratches. The original case back retains its blue protective sticker. The watch comes complete with all tags, instructions manual, original straps with the flat KS buckle, and its box/outer-box. ___ Specifications ___ BRAND: King Seiko MODEL: 45KS REFERENCE: 45-7000 DIAL: Original silver/white dial CASE MATERIAL: Stainless steel CASE DIMENSIONS: 37mm diameter; 11.7mm thickness, 18mm lug width CRYSTAL: Mineral Crystal CASE BACK: Screw-in Stainless Steel MOVEMENT: 4500A Manufacturing date: March 1969 Service History: Service history unknown, ±10s/day Bracelet/Strap: Original black leather straps with the flat KS buckle.Seiko King 45KS 45-7000 $ 3,311 Basic Info Listing code KWY549 Brand Seiko Model King Reference number 45-7000 Movement Manual winding Case material Steel Bracelet material Leather Year of production 1969 Condition Unworn (Mint condition, without signs of wear) Scope of delivery Original box, original papers Gender Men's watch/Unisex Location Japan, Tokyo Price ¥520,000 (= $3,311) [Negotiable] Availability Item is in stock Caliber Movement Manual winding Caliber/movement 4500A Case Case material Steel Case diameter 37 x 41 mm Try it on Thickness 11.7 mm Water resistance Not water resistant Bezel material Steel Crystal Mineral Glass Dial Silver Bracelet/strap Bracelet material Leather Bracelet color Black Clasp Buckle Clasp material Steel Other Central seconds, Chronometer In the mid-1960s, Seiko's Suwa and Daini factories entered the Swiss chronometer trials to push their technical limits.
