Which would you rather have – The Seikomatic R or the Business A. Same reference, so spot the differences! Model reference 8346-8000. HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH? From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in August 1966. The retail price was ¥13,500, half the price of a Grand Seiko and roughly twice the price of a Seiko Skyliner. In the Japanese catalogue this is lists as a Seikomatic R, and the video shows a Business A next to this Seikomatic R with exactly the same reference number. We believe the Business R was intended for export markets. CONDITION With a 27 jewel automatic movement, that could also be hand wound (unlike the cheaper models), the Seikomatic and Business R models appeal to vintage collectors for their horological excellence and their everyday wearability. The date can be quick set, and the day wheel is in English (it is even in English in the Japanese catalogue picture.). This example has a bit of patina on the dial, but overall looks great.
