A hard to find combination of a completely original watch and original railroad bracelet with rare “error” bezel and “proof case“ in fantastic working condition and ready for daily wear. Visually: - It’s got a great unpolished cushion case which wears surprisingly well even on a smaller wrist like my 170mm wrist. - Has the rare “error” bezel - for a few years the people who manage Greenwich Mean Time decided to put Greenwich and London on different time zones so the watches produced from about 1969-1972 don’t have GMT and London together as they are now. As such the models made during that small window of time got the moniker, “error bezels” - It’s a stunner with a gorgeous silver linen dial and the usual wear you would expect from a 55 year old watch. - The crystal was polished so the city ring would be legible, but otherwise the watch is completely original - the original owner purchased it in the pacific while serving in the US Navy. Functionally: - The watch allows you to tell the time in another city using the red arrow tipped hand and a rotating ring around the outside of the dial which has major cities of the world (as of 1970). A cool feature but especially handy for travelers. Many of these rotating rings were prone to breaking and not rotating smoothly but this one works perfectly. - I timed it in a combination of positions and conditions over a period of two weeks and over that period of time it ran a TOTAL of -20 seconds however I wouldn’t guarantee that accuracy always. - Bracelet has five positions of micro adjustment. - Screw down case back says “waterproof” which was later changed to “water resistant” making this a bit more unique than others. I have not changed the gaskets and without a screw down crown, I wouldn’t use this swimming or in the shower. Evidence of its originality includes: - a small blemish on the city ring at “GMT” and “Mexico City” which is visible at just the right angle and what looks like a hairline crack in edge of crystal (both circled in green in photo). Neither affect the performance of the watch.
