While not traditionally known for boasting famed watchmakers like some other countries, Finland has undoubtedly found its way onto the map thanks to Sarapeneva - one of the most unique and distinctive independent watchmakers in the industry. However, like plenty of other high-end independent watchmakers, Stepan Sarapeneva also owns a more accessible diffusion line that offers toned-down versions of his designs at a more affordable price point, which is known as S.U.F. Helsinki. Offered here as part of the S.U.F. Helsinki brand we have the Vetehinen, the brand’s first dive watch rated to 300m of water resistance and named after a 500-tonne WWII submarine. Made of Finnish stainless steel and boasting a matte green dial and limited to just 26 pieces, this unusual spin on a modern dive watch is as stunning as it is impressive and robust. THE DIAL With legibility at the center of its design, the Vetehinen's green dial boasts large round hour markers and large luminous hands alongside a large luminous pip on its steel bezel that allows its wearer to use it as the dive watch it was designed to be. THE CONSTRUCTION Made of Finnish stainless steel from Outokumpu, the Finnish steel giant, the Vetehinen's construction boasts plenty of anti-corrosive nickel which comes mined from the Finnish ground.
