Description

Rolex Submariner Date 1680 "White MKI" from 1977

Rolex Submariner Date 1680 "White" MK1 Dial (1977) Pre-owned Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 1680, with a 40mm stainless steel case, bidirectional rotatable steel bezel with black aluminium lunette, "White" (because of the white font inserts) MK1 black Tritium dial ("SWISS -T<25") with creamy yellow hour markers and hands and date indicator at 3 o’clock (through the "Cyclops" window). Original crown. Plexiglass crystal, automatic movement calibre 1570. Oystersteel bracelet with deployant clasp. The Reference 1680 was introduced 10 years after the Submariner 5512 came to market, and 16 years after the Submariner made its debut, and was the eventual successor to one of Rolex’s longest serially produced references. The 1680 brought a major innovation to the Submariner line, with the addition of a date window underneath the "Cyclops" date magnifier. Also the Ref. 1680 is labeled as waterproof up to 200 meters and has a chronometer status. This is a "White Sub", a model that Rolex sold between 1972 and 1979, with all white graphics. The dial is "Feet First" (depth in feet and meter: "660ft = 200m"). This is an MK1 dial: the "L" in ROLEX is stands perfectly in the middle under the crown, the word "SUBMARINER" is as wide as the depth ratings, the numbers "6" are closed and at 6 o’clock we can find the text "SWISS -T<25" (meaning the luminous paint is Tritium based).. In good condition.
