Rolex Submariner 1680

Rolex, very rare "Red Submariner" Meter first, ca. 1970. Stainless steel. D 39.5 mm. Rolex introduced the first Submariner with date in 1969, the reference 1680. Only the early production models were printed with the red Submariner inscription on the dial. Over the decades, this lot developed an attractive cream-colored patina of the luminous material on the dial and hands. Reference No. 1680. Case No. 2421864, screw-down case and crown, rotatable bezel. Dial: Black dial with luminous dots and red SUBMARINER inscription, 200 m = 660 ft. Movement: Rolex automatic movement No. D 582966, chronometer quality. Band: Oyster band (folded links) with fold-over clasp, dated 1/76 and end links No. 9315 - 280. Wrist size ca. 19 cm. The Oyster band is probably original to the watch, the clasp was replaced ca. 1976. Accessories: Copy of the Bucherer service invoice. Sold for All information is subject to change.
