Features include uni-directional divers bezel with tritium luminous pip, stainless steel Oyster case, sapphire crystal with cyclops lens, black matte dial with tritium hour markers, tritium minute/hour/seconds hands, quick-set date function and screw-down Triplock crown. Even though it's from the 80's, it is a five-digit reference 16800 (most five-digit references didn't come around until the 90's) and features a sapphire crystal and the updated calibre 3035 with quick-set date function, making it a stand-out model that was produced at a time when Rolex was still predominantly producing watches with plexiglass crystals and the older generation movements. The water resistance was also bumped up to 300 metres, an increase of 100 metres over previous Submariner models. With this transitional Submariner, you get a watch with genuine vintage charm but with all the modern watchmaking conveniences.
