The 16610LV (Kermit) was originally introduced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Submariner in 2003. Replaced by the present lot’s reference, the Hulk featured numerous distinguishable advancements in design compared to its predecessor. Remaining 40 mm in size, the new release showcases Rolex’s patented Cerachrom scratch and fade resistant bezel made of ceramic. While this was originally introduced on GMT-Master II models in starting in 2005, and black in color, the Hulk was the first time the brand paired the new green ceramic bezel on a Submariner. The watch also featured a new ‘Super Case,’ which was accompanied with an updated Oyster bracelet that features solid links rather than hollow ones. Additionally, the closure is comprised of a new OysterLock Clasp with Glidelock Extension, making minimal sizing adjustments easier and more seamless. The green dial, which matches nicely with the green bezel, has become an iconic member of the Submariner family. The present lot is offered with its original box, papers, and booklets, making it an ideal collectable.
