The Rolex DRSD 1665 is a classic wristwatch that a number of watch collectors have coveted and has become a rarity and a must have for the ROLEX aficionados. This vintage Rolex Double Red Sea Dweller features a date display and gas escape valve, with Reference 1665. This one features: Waterproof Case - Ref 1665 features a 40 mm polished and satined three-part water proof Oyster case with screw down back and crown. The case is made of stainless steel and is topped with a plastic dome crystal and rotatable bezel. Everything is in excellent condition, the original acrylic crystal has never been polished and it shows; Gas Escape Valve - Rolex added a helium gas escape valve in the band of Ref 1665 to allow the watch to remain resistant to water and pressure at an even greater depth. Movement - This timepiece utilizes the calibre 1570 with 26 jewels movement. Dial - This Ref 1665 features an Original SINGER matte black dial with tritium and dot hour markers (it could be one of the super-rare Prototypes). The dial also features TRITIUM luminous hour and minute hands and a luminous "lollipop" sweep center seconds hand with a less than 50 CPM on a Geiger Counter. The case, dial, and movement are signed and has a serial number 3.98 M dating it from 1973; Date Feature - This particular watch has an aperture for the date in place of the 3 o'clock mark. Bracelet - The timepiece is finished with a matching stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet. "Double Red" Sea Dweller - The first ever Sea Dweller able to reach a depth of 610 meters (2000 feet) and remain water resistant. The name "Double Red" comes from the signature "Sea-Dweller Submariner 2000" on the dial, which offers two distinct lines of red text; this one has the distinct Mark III dial made for Rolex by the famous house SINGER (could be one of the super-rare PROTOTYPES); shows amber patina and still has a small Tritium radiation of less than 50 CPM on a Geiger counter.
