Description

1984 Rolex GMT-Master II ‘Fat Lady’ Reference 16760

Why This Watch Matters This GMT-Master II “Fat Lady” checks all of our boxes with a black and red bezel and white-gold indexes. The Full Story The Rolex reference 16760 was the first GMT-Master II, and had a few features that weren’t present on previous models. These features included an independent setting of the GMT hand (for the first time in a GMT-Master), a thicker case, and white-gold index surrounds. It was dubbed the “Fat Lady” because of its extra “fat” case (we promise this is a positive thing). The example you see here has the fat lady case, which does not appear to be polished, as well as a slick black dial with large tritium indexes with white-gold surrounds, giving this GMT-Master II a sharp new look. The lume plots are a uniform vanilla color that pops well against the red and black bezel. The case appears to be unpolished, with only light superficial scratches to the lugs and case bands. The bracelet exhibits little stretch, but has some scratches throughout.
