1957 Rolex Explorer 6610 Gilt Dial Big Lollipop Stunning Example Great Story

I have owned this watch for about five years. I purchased it from the grandson of the original owner so it's essentially a one-owner watch. The watch was originally purchased by "Eve" who was a British naval officer for her husband who was also a British naval officer. I will provide a picture of the wedding of the two to the buyer (I will not include the picture in this listing for privacy). The grandson mentioned to me several times just how much the two loved each other as reflected in the inscription on the back of the watch. I normally shy away from buying inscribed watches but this story (and the accompanying wedding picture) was just too great to pass! As you can see, and as confirmed to me by the grandson, the watch was stored in a drawer for decades, not even serviced. I had the watch serviced a few years ago by a highly regarded vintage watchmaker. It runs smooth and keeps great time. The big lollipop version is the rarest of all Explorers of this reference which I believe was made for about four years. Watches like this are truly rare. Rolex, 1950s, all original, one owner, great provenance, and head-turning dial!
