Rolex Explorer II 1655
Il Rolex Explorer II Ref. 1655, soprannominato “Freccione” è nato nel 1971 e Rolex lo mantenne in produzione fino al 1984-1985. Tale referenza nasce da un'esigenza specifica pensata per gli speleologi i quali, trascorrendo molte giornate all'interno delle grotte, potevano perdere la cognizione del tempo e confondere il giorno con la notte; tale modello, rinominato “Freccione” nel mondo dei collezionisti, ha come caratteristica distintiva, una grande freccia arancione che serve a distinguere immediatamente le ore diurne da quelle notturne grazie al suo posizionamento sulla 24 ore incise sulla ghiera.
Nel 1984 Rolex presentò il suo successore: la referenza 16550. In questo periodo di produzione di circa 13/14 anni Rolex apportò solamente piccoli accorgimenti estetici.. I collezionisti hanno classificato ciascuno di questi lievi cambiamenti in diverse serie "Mark/MK".

Ref.1655 released in 1971 and Rolex kept it in production until 1984-1985. This reference arises from a specific need designed for speleologists who, spending many days inside the caves, could lose track of time and confuse day with night; this model, renamed "Freccione" in the world of collectors, has as its distinctive feature a large arrow which serves to immediately distinguish daylight hours from nighttime hours.
In 1984, Rolex introduced its successor: the reference 16550. In this production period of roughly 13/14 years, Rolex only amended small developments. Collectors categorized each of these slight changes into different "Mark/MK" series.
