The rugged and GMT-equipped Rolex Explorer II is fast becoming a collectors’ favourite, representing a steel sports watch with a difference. The ref. 216570 was discontinued in 2021, yet introduced some wholesale changes to the Explorer II line including a larger 42mm case and orange GMT hand; the latter of which is a nod to the original Explorer II of 1971. The watch is fitted with a distinctive 24-hour brushed steel bezel which is unique to the Explorer II family. Beneath the stainless steel caseback beats Rolex’s calibre 3187; an automatic chronometer-certified movement with a 48-hour power reserve and GMT functionality. Adding to its ‘go anywhere, do anything’ versatility, the Explorer II also has a water resistance of 100 metres. The Explorer II is paired with a satin-finished Oyster bracelet.
