Basic Info Listing code : MCO1Y5 Brand : Rolex Model : Day-Date 36 Reference number : 18038 Dealer product code : 240942 Movement : Automatic Case material : Yellow gold Bracelet material : Yellow gold Year of production : 1987 Condition : Used (Good) Scope of delivery : Original box, original papers Gender : Men's watch/Unisex Location : Japan, Tokyo Price : 4,050,000 Availability : Item is in stock Caliber Movement : Automatic Case Case material : Yellow gold Case diameter : 35 mm Bracelet/strap Bracelet material : Yellow gold *Tritium luminescence *Sapphire glass windshield Screw-in crown *28,800 vibrations Second hand stop function *18038 can fast-forward the "day" but not the "day of the week". Its successor, the 18238, can fast-forward both the day and the date. *Rolex designs are becoming more and more rounded, but I think the angular design of a long time ago is also quite good. We will adjust them free of charge. (If you need to order frames, there is a charge for this service, but it is not possible if there are no frames in stock.) Belt: bracelet type Accessories: " Outer box Inner box English instruction manual "rolex day-date" [9.1986] English booklet "your rolex oyster" [6.1990] Warranty card (August 1987) Hong Kong country code [400] Green rectangular tag (with serial number seal) Service Card (manufacturer's repair warranty until May 2026) *Booklet is close in age, but did not originally come with this piece. *Instruction manual is roughly consistent in age. *The box is a close match in age. *If you fit the inner box into the outer box, there is quite a bit of room at the top, but this is not because the outer and inner boxes do not match, but because it came with a nice thick leather-lined memo pad at the time, and there is room to fit that. *The service card is not marked in any way. A nfc capable smart phone is required to verify the contents. Case Diameter/Wrist Circumference: *Case Diameter 36mm *The case size is listed as 36mm, but the actual case width between 3:00 and 9:00 is approximately 35mm. The crown portion of the case is flattened, but assuming that it is bulging here, it would be 36mm. *Wrist circumference: up to about 18.5cm (1 frame missing) Condition: *Used a+ considering its age *There is some superficial discoloration throughout. This is rather common with older 18k gold and is only superficial. In the images, the discoloration may be accentuated and look quite noticeable, but in person, as an older watch, it is not so unsightly. For watches with simple shaped leather belts, the discoloration may be easily removed with a polishing cloth, etc. The 18038 has a complicated shape, so removing the discoloration will require polishing at a watch repair store. It may be advisable to make a careful decision since polishing may change the atmosphere of the watch. A watch like this one, which is nearly 40 years old and shows no effect of polishing, is valuable in its own right, so it may be better to use it as it is. *Considering its age, this is a very clean pre-owned watch with relatively little signs of use. I think it is in perfect condition for a 18038 and retains the original atmosphere of this model. *The edges of the case and the jagged bezel are very sharp for its age. I think the original atmosphere of this model remains well. *If you look closely, you can see some minor superficial scratches overall, but I think they are surprisingly unnoticeable. *The sapphire glass windshield has no scratches that would be a concern. When you put your fingernail on the edge of the glass, you can feel a slight scratch, but it is not noticeable to the naked eye. There is no crown watermark on the glass, but please be assured that the watermark was added around 2000. *The dial and hands are in excellent condition. The dial indexes and hands are tritium luminescent, but we do not feel that the luminescence has been burned off. I believe the dial and hands were replaced during an authorized overhaul at some older age. A dial that has been replaced and has old type diamond indexes and tritium luminescence may be valuable. When I took the watch from a bright place to a dark place, it glowed well at first, but after about 5 minutes, it hardly glowed at all. I think it is a degraded tritium luminescence that reacts to light temporarily. I think the dial is at least 10 years old or older. *The bracelet shows some sagging, but I think it is fairly solid considering its age. *Tritium luminescence *Sapphire glass windshield Screw-in crown *28,800 oscillation with second hand stop function *18038 can fast forward the "day" but not the "day of the week". Its successor, the 18238, can fast-forward both the day and the date. *Rolex designs are becoming more and more rounded, but I think the angular design of a long time ago is also quite good.
