In 1969, the Ref. 6263 and Ref. 6265 were introduced simultaneously to replace Rolex's first Oyster Cosmograph, the Ref. 6240. Both models were equipped with Oyster chronograph pushers and were water resistant up to 50 meters. Both models, which were manufactured for approximately 20 years, were available in stainless steel and gold. The Ref. 6263 features a bezel with a black acrylic insert with the tachymeter scale printed in white letters. This particular model has a stainless steel case and is fitted with a rare dial without “DAYTONA” and with a sigma mark at the 6 o'clock position.
