LittleThings – make your day. __ ROLEX | Turn-o-Graph Tropical Galvanic Black Gilt Dial Ref. 6202 1950s For your collection of incredibly significant Rolex vintage diver's watches, there is this reference 6202 | Rolex Turn-o-Graph produced in year 1954, in an excellent well-preserved collectors condition. Over the course of its approximately 70-year history, the original galvanic black gilt dial has aged to a beautiful consistent “tropical” state - it has changed color from black to a slightly brownish hue, the glossy surface has transformed evenly into a matte finish, and the luminous material has taken on a lovely tropical orange-brown color. __ This Rolex Turn-o-Graph is the pioneer and origin of all Submariner models and one of Rolex's first tool watches. It is said that this reference was developed in parallel with the 6204 but was released shortly after it. According to the history, a first Rolex diving tool watch model was necessary for the presentation at the BaselWorld (at the time: Basler Schweizer Industriemesse). The 6202 was originally intended, but the 6204 was presented instead because it was apparently in a more advance state of development.  Unlike all early Submariner models, the Turn-o-Grap has a somewhat smaller diameter, which makes this timepiece unique.
