The Turn-O-Graph is launched in 1953 and is considered as one of the first Rolex’s tool-watches. The reference 6202 is the first one featuring a bidirectional rotating bezel calibrated to 60 minute to be serially produced. Becoming a landmark feature in Rolex’s production, this rotating bezel opened a new path that will be soon followed by other models such as Submariner and GMT. Rolex merged the ‘Turn-O-Graph’ with the ‘DateJust’ in 1954 with reference 6309. Produced one year only in about 4'200 examples, this wristwatch is one of the rare example of this first generation of the Turn-O-Graph: a milestone of Rolex history.
This particular example has been very well preserved in all original condition, still showing the stamped number "18" on the lug matching to the inner case back indicating little polish, its original faded bezel, and its untouched dial, hands and indexes reacting strongly to the Geiger counter.ROLEX, SWITZERLAND, REF. 6202, TURN-O-GRAPH, STAINLESS STEEL | Important Modern & Vintage Timepiece | Geneva, November 4-5, 2023
