Description

Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6085

SKU : 7596 Model : Oyster Perpetual Reference : 6085 Case Dimensions : 34 mm Glass : Plexi crystal Movement : Automatic Caliber : A260 Bracelet : 18K yellow gold riveted Oyster bracelet, original Rolex Year : 1953 The 1950's is such a rich period in the Rolex catalogue, with the introduction of numerous iconic model lines, but one must not forget the good ol' Oyster Perpetual. This 6085 is a sumptuous example and very refined. Crafted from 18K yellow gold, and with some nice finishing on the metal. Besides the usual polished and sandblasted structure, we find a bezel that is engine turned; adorning the 34mm measuring Oyster case. It also still bears the original and rare super Oyster crown. The beating heart inside the housing is an early, yet reliable, automatic movement by Rolex. On the dial is proudly shown that its chronometer certified. The dial is a work of art. The red printing of "officially" is the cherry on top. Due to the use of radium on the hour markers and in the hands, the dial turned to a very appealing and even cream color. Rarely do we encounter this attractive aging. The faceted hands and pointy indices showcase the craftsmanship this epoque is known for. Last but not least is the original riveted Oyster bracelet with straight end links. The clasp displays the elegant Rolex coronet how it was shaped in the fifties. This early construction features springs in the links, allowing a bit of extra room for movement. This is known as an "expandable Oyster bracelet" and is hard to come by. Just like every aspect of this magnificent and all-original timepiece.
