3-6-9 "EXPLORER" DIAL, CONSIGNED BY THE SON OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER WHO PURCHASED THE WATCH FROM GARRARD CROWN JEWELLERS REGENT STREET IN 1964 FOR THE SUM OF £67.10
Movement: 26J, automatic, cal. 1530, signed Rolex Geneva, numbered.
Case: Diameter approx. 40mm, Oyster case with pointed crown guards, signed Montres Rolex S.A., ref. 5512, dated I.62, serial no. 765,xxx, "fat font" 60 minute rotating bezel faded to grey, Rolex Triplock crown.
Bracelet: JB Champion

The original owner of this watch was First Assistant Film Director Patrick Clayton who worked predominantly in film over a career spanning six decades. Patrick Clayton’s work as third and second AD went mostly uncredited, including on the likes of Oliver! and Where Eagles Dare (both 1968), with his first named credit coming with his 17th film, The Syndicate (1968). He was then credited as first AD or AD for Twins of Evil (1971), Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981), Gorillas in the Mist (1988), Shadowlands (1993), Interview with the Vampire (1994), Michael Collins (1996), Event Horizon (1997), The End of the Affair (1999) and City of Ember (2008). He also worked as a production manager with credits on Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines (1965), The Keep (1983) and 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992).
This watch is accompanied by original photographs of Patrick Clayton wearing the watch, the original Garrard sales receipt and a signed letter of provenance from his son. The watch is being sold with original photographs of Patrick Clayton on set alongside actors he worked with including Clint Eastwood, Richard Attenborough, Ralph Fiennes, Julianne Moore, David Niven, Max Von Sydow and others. It also comes with Patrick Clayton's original screenplay from White Hunter, Black Heart (1989) and letters from Winkast Film Productions for "Where Eagles Dare" and Hawk Films for Stanley Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey.
