MOVEMENT: Rolex, mechanical hand-winding. COMMENTS : This watch is an incredibly rare Prisoner of War model issued directly by Hans Wilsdorf to WWII PoW's. This particular watch comes with all the provenance possible and the original band. Most of these watches have neither the provenance or the paperwork. There are multiple letters and the original bill of sale hand signed by Hans Wilsdorf the founder & CEO of Rolex. There are also multiple copies from news paper clippings from the time about the Prisoner of War and how he acquired this watch from Rolex to give it even more back story. The listing only shows some snippets of the paperwork, only the buyer will get to see these papers as they are rare, incredibly valuable and fragile. The watch itself only shows some slight discoloring on the hour and minute hands which is common, and some minor hairlines on the case from wear. There is no damage to the watch, the acrylic crystal is original and in great shape. The watch currently is on a Nato strap though comes with the original Jubilee it was issued with - which is still in impeccable shape. The watch runs incredibly well and all push buttons function properly. The most recent sale of one of these watches sold at auction for $180,000 & that was without having any paperwork or form of provenance to go with the watch.
