This is the fourth-generation Ref.16700, which replaced the previous Ref.16750 in 1988. The movement was changed to the next-generation Cal.3175, improving the accuracy and stability, and the plastic glass was replaced with sapphire crystal, improving the water resistance to 100m. In 2000, production of this Ref.16700 was discontinued, and with this, the GMT-Master was only available as the GMT-MasterII, which added an independent correction function for the hour hand.
