The RM 65-01, launched in 2020, represents the brand's most intricate motorsport-inspired watch to date. Despite its complex and technical appearance, this remarkable timepiece is designed for everyday wear. At the core of the RM 65-01 is the calibre RMAC4, an automatic movement that took five years of careful development and refinement. Among its various technical innovations is a rapid winding mechanism, in addition to the standard automatic and crown winding functions. By pressing the pusher at the 8 o’clock position, the barrel can be quickly reset, allowing the watch to be fully energized after periods of inactivity. Richard Mille’s engineers faced significant challenges in developing this feature, particularly due to the high torque transfer needed. However, the mechanism proved to be exceptionally durable during rigorous testing, successfully activating thousands of times. The present RM 65-01 is housed in a titanium case, with both the baseplate and bridges made from grade 5 titanium, known for its impressive strength and lightweight characteristics. The dial showcases vibrant accents of red, blue, orange, green, and yellow, adding a playful element to the sophisticated gray semi-skeletonised background.
