Ressence Type 1 Spymaster Limited Edition

Designing watches the likes of which have never been seen before, Ressence’s unique approach to watchmaking has created a design language that is traceable only to them. Characteristically unconventional, to put it lightly, Ressence utilizes spherical discs displaying the hours, minutes, seconds, and days that rotate through the displays of their timepieces to create an ever-evolving appearance for their watches. Released in 2014 and featuring a display system called the ‘Ressence Orbital Convex System’ that comprises of 27 gears and 40 jewels with painted engraved indications, the Type 1 is a true feat of craftsmanship and engineering that seems to have come from a sci-fi movie rather than an artisanal Swiss watchmaker. Launched in 2021 and crafted in collaboration with New York's Spyscape espionage museum, the Ressence Type 1 Spymaster takes the Belgian watchmaker’s iconic model and turns it into an espionage-themed limited-edition series of just 21 pieces, each of which are accompanied by a unique non-fungible token (NFT) artwork, blending the tangible with the digital. Featuring a grey-and-black color palette, titanium case, and Spyscape-redacted typography, the Spymaster exudes a stealthy charm in absolute abundance. Powered by the Ressence Orbital Convex System 1.3, this futuristic timepiece features a crown-less case, facilitating comfortable wear on both wrists. The symphony of rotating sub-dials and the watch's captivating design make the Spymaster a unique watch, even by Ressence’s high standards. THE DIAL Boasting a monochromatic beautiful grey dial, the Type 1 Spyscape's dial displays the hours in its largest subdial, the minutes with its single hand (displaying 25 minutes in this image), the running seconds (at 3 o'clock in this image) and the day of the week in the last remaining dial (Saturday in this image) that also doubles as an AM/PM indicator, as one can figure out if it is earlier or later in the day. THE CONSTRUCTION The Type 1 Spyscape’s blacked-out titanium case features a system whereby the means to wind the watch or set the time are operated by the periphery of the caseback.
