Brand: Aureus This Aureus Datofix, manufactured by Record Watch Co. during the 1940s, is triple calendar watch with day, date and month display, fitted with a rare and attractive two tones bulls-eye dial, in a very good condition an din proper working order. Record, founded in Tramelan in 1903 and later integrated into the Longines group, was known for robust in-house calibres. The Datofix line, marketed under several brandings including Aureus, was Record’s answer to the growing demand for complicated yet accessible watches with a triple calendar. The case is chrome-plated with a stainless steel pressure-locked back, measuring 33 mm excluding the original crown. Its sculpted drop lugs give the watch an elegant wrist presence with the classical proportions typical of the 1940s. The caseback locks firmly into place and has its correct serial numbers. The chrome plating is intact, with only minimal traces of wear consistent with age. The watch is fitted with a plexiglass, free from scratches. The dial is original, with a copper and silvered two-tone bullseye, it has developed an even patina, enhancing its vintage character, while the silvered outer ring provides excellent legibility. The layout shows a triple calendar: a subsidiary dial at 9 o’clock for the day, another at 3 o’clock for the month, and a peripheral date scale indicated by a central hand. Arabic numerals alternate with applied dot markers, all in a very good untouched condition. Inside, the watch houses the Record calibre 107C, a manually wound in-house movement, this calibre is known for its reliability and straightforward architecture, making it both precise and serviceable. Its integration of full calendar indications within a compact movement highlights Record’s technical competence during the era. The watch mounts a vintage steel strap with its folding clasp, all in a very good condition.
