According to information provided by Piaget Heritage, this model is "probably one of the first pieces of this reference produced".
Textured gold, combined with hard stone, is a good illustration of the style of the Maison which asserted itself in a brilliant way from the mid-1960s.
Andy Warhol owned, among other Piaget watches, this model in a narrower version with a tiger eye dial is reproduced in F. Müller, P. Garcia, S. Hiett, Piaget, Horlogers et Joailliers since 1874, Ed. de La Martinière, 2014, reproduced in color p. 246
