The watch features an opaline silvered dial which has aged beautifully to a cream/champagne colour . If you compare it to the much lighter coloured Day and Month windows it is apparent that it is subtly different . I did at first think that this might have been a different dial reference , something between silver and the very rare Dore colour. The extract states Opaline Silvered so we go with that . The watch also has the correct original early typewriter script on the day and month windrows , this is a feature which was seen on 2nd series watches. The watch does feel quite transitional in that the movement number is only 23 later than a platinum second series watch which I sold recently. They were sold only one month apart . What I find interesting is that the watch only has a solid back , so it is either missing its crystal back or it never had one . It is a great looking watch in crisp condition with strong case definition and clear hallmarks . The moon and star disc is also the original polished example rather than a frosted gold service one . The watch comes with its Extract from the Archives noting the sale in August 1992. It is fitted with a new brown Patek Philippe strap and its original gold pin buckle as well as correct setting stylus and period box . The pictures show it against a 1990s master catalogue photograph of the 3970J with silver dial . This is a lovely watch to wear the subtle cream colour of the dial gives the watch a very vintage feel . Available now …
