Reference 3940 was introduced in 1985 to replace reference 3450; production ceased in 2007. This was Patek Philippe’s first perpetual calendar with micro-rotor winding, thanks to its caliber 240 Q. The rarest version - the platinum models - were delivered only with the plain snap on case back, whereas the other case versions were available with both solid and glazed back.
Reference 3940 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, pages 292 - 293. CONDITIONS AND INFORMATION FOR BUYERS
