Despite overwhelming demand, years-long waitlists, and soaring secondary market prices, the brand made the bold decision to retire the beloved model. Just three months later, in April 2021, Patek surprised collectors once again with the unexpected release of two new variations of the 5711: the 5711/1A-014 in stainless steel featuring a striking sunburst olive green dial, and the 5711/1300A, also in steel, enhanced with a baguette diamond-set bezel and the same green dial. This marked the first time a Nautilus featured a green dial. Together with the diamond-set version, these models represented the final chapter of the 5711 line, with the exception of the ‘Tiffany Blue’ double-signed editions. The 5711 was subsequently succeeded by the 5811, which is offered only in white gold. Produced for only one year, both green-dial models became instant grail pieces. Collectors were captivated not only by the distinctive new hue but also by the rarity of the release. Allocation was extremely limited and reserved exclusively for Patek Philippe’s top-tier VIP clientele. With production of the 5711 now fully ceased, the present example represents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a piece from one of the most iconic—and most elusive—sports watch references in modern horology.
