Description

Patek Philippe Ref 3710/1A-001 Nautilus, “The Comet”, Under Service Warranty, Extract from the Archives, Circa 1998

The Nautilus 3710/1A-001 has a stainless steel case and black dial. It is powered by the self-winding caliber 330 SC IZR, with central seconds, date and a power reserve indicator. The watch is encased in 42mm of stainless steel surrounding a black dial on a stainless steel bracelet. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, date, and power reserve indicator. The watch is 8.2mm thick and 44.5mm from lug-to-lug. Patek Philippe launched the Nautilus line in 1976, and introduced the power reserve model in 1998. The 3710 is part of the “Jumbo” case family; and it retains the exact proportions of the original Ref 3700 model, including the unique “mono bloc” case designed by Gerald Genta. The power reserve gauge at 12 o’clock that defines the Nautilus 3710. The device marked the first non-date complication to join the Nautilus line since its debut. The silver hand and silver graduated scale within the indicator move as the mainspring is wound and discharged. This complication was created specifically for the Nautilus 3710, and it has not been used on any Patek Philippe model since the conclusion of 3710 production in 2005. The totally flat matte black dial and luminescent white gold Roman numerals give the Nautilus 3710 a distinctive face. Other details include a center seconds hand and a “railroad” seconds/minutes track. The Patek Philippe, Geneve logo is moved down below the stem of the hands to give the dial a balanced look. This unique configuration was never repeated in the Nautilus line. After Ref 3710 shot up to over $130,000 last year, the price of this collectible model has come down and presents a good opportunity. The condition of our watch is excellent. The case shows normal signs of wear from use with only light scratches. The watch was serviced by Patek Philippe in 2022 and is under warranty for one more year. This Ref 3710 comes with its original box, an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives (confirming production of this early example in 1998), and service papers from Patek Philippe in the name of Parthian Watch Company. The watch has not been worn since it came back from service. Technical Data: Movement/Caliber: 330SC IZR Jewels: 30 Power Reserve: 48 hrs Frequency: 21,600 VpH
