Description

Patek Philippe

Nautilus “First Series” of 18k gold and steel, ref. 3800/001. Mechanical movement with automatic winding and date, cal. 335SC. 1989. Integrated bracelet of 18k gold and steel. Circumference approximately 16.5 cm. Diameter 37.5 mm., Accompanied by Patek Philippe box, seven extra links (approx. 4.2 cm), manual, service receipts from 2011 and 2020, as well as the original purchase receipt and certificate from 1989., Few watches are as highly sought-after and coveted as the Patek Philippe Nautilus. Originally introduced in 1976 as a 42 mm men’s watch, the model was quite large for its time. To bring the watch to a wider range of people, Patek Philippe introduced the ref. 3800 in 1981, giving their customers the option to buy a 37.5 mm Nautilus. Interestingly, the 3800 was initially a more expensive watch that the ref. 3700, which is its larger brother. This particular iteration in 18k gold and steel from 1989 is part of the desirable first series of the reference. This is seen from the black date wheel, which was quickly changed to white and a different font. There are however early pieces with the white wheel as well, but black remains the scarcest and thus desirable.
