It was a mid-size version of the Nautilus reference 3700 and carried the same design aesthetics. It was presented in a smaller size case (37.5 mm. as opposed to 42 mm.) and the dial featured a centre seconds hand made possible by the introduction of the Patek Philippe Cal. 335 SC. The first and the second series of Ref. 3800 production featured the Cal. 335 SC movement, the only difference being that the second series movements featured a quick-set function for the date like the present timepiece. The third series watches were powered by Cal. 330-134 and the fourth by Cal. 330-194. The white matte dial, confirmed by the Extract here, is normally seen on the two-tone Ref. 3800-1AJ.
