However, after the release of the original 3700 'Jumbo', Patek Philippe began to experiment with different case sizes and dial designs through the rest of the 20th century. Introduced in 1998, the Nautilus reference 3710/1A was the first Nautilus to feature a more advanced complication than a simple date with a power reserve indication. It was also the first time the 'Jumbo' case size was brought back in a watch that was not the 3700. Discontinued in 2006, the reference 3710 sits as somewhat of an oddity within the Nautilus family. Not only is the power reserve off-centre, sitting between 11 and 12 o’clock, but also the 'Patek Philippe Geneve' signature was relegated to the bottom half of the dial . The classic ribbed dial seen on all other models of the family was also omitted. The unusual dial layout, paired with the classic and ever-relevant Nautilus case makes for an instantly recognizable reference, and is sure to stand out against other members of the Nautilus family.
