PATEK PHILIPPE, SWITZERLAND, REF. 3700/13, "JUMBO" NAUTILUS, PROBABLY UNIQUE, ONLY ONE KNOWN PINK GOLD DIAL, DIAMOND INDEXES, ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE AND BOX, 18K YELLOW GOLD. A historically important, probably unique, 18k yellow gold and diamond bezel, self winding large wristwatch with pink gold and diamond dial. This recent discovery of this probably unique/only known Jumbo Nautilus will re-write the history of the mighty reference 3700. Originally ordered by the grandfather of the consignor, this 3700/13 (the reference for the diamond-set bezel) was ordered through Somazzi in Lugano and delivered in September 1984. As mentioned on the certificate of origin, the dial states: "special or rose, index brillants" confirming the specially ordered pink color dial with three rows of diamonds on each index. While it was believed that the platinum version was the rarest (3 known examples, one with diamond bezel), this Nautilus is the only example known featuring a different color dial (only the prototype of the 3700 featured a white dial). Worn on rare occasions, the case has been very well preserved exhibiting tight pin holes as well as 2 deep and crisp hallmarks. The bezel also features the last 3 digits of the case number attesting to its full originality. Accompanied by its original certificate and an invoice from Gubelin a year later for an extra link, without a doubt the most important Nautilus to appear at auction.
