An important and extremely rare and freshly unsealed white gold double dial wristwatch with cathedral minute repeating, tourbillon, perpetual calendar, retrograde date, moonphase, leap year indication, sidereal time, sky chart, phases and orbit of the moon and cloisonné enamel dial with Certificate and box. The present Sky Moon Tourbillon Grand Complication marks only the second appearance at an international auction of the celebrated reference 6002G with a black dial—an important milestone, offering collectors a rare opportunity to acquire one of Patek Philippe’s most extraordinary creations. Introduced in 2013 with blue dials as the successor to the 2001 Sky Moon Tourbillon reference 5002—once regarded as the world’s most complicated wristwatch—the reference 6002G elevated the lineage to new artistic heights. The black dial variant followed in 2016. At the time, the reference 5002 was Patek Philippe’s most complicated wristwatch and the first by the company to feature a double dial. No fewer than 12 complications operate within the 44 mm white gold case of the 6002G. The case is entirely hand-chased and engraved with richly sculpted, near three-dimensional scrollwork, a process requiring more than 100 hours of meticulous craftsmanship. Its refined black dial is adorned with cloisonné and champlevé enamel, embellished with foliate motifs that echo the elaborate decoration of the case—a tribute to Geneva’s long-standing tradition of rare handcrafts. These artisanal techniques carry an almost ancestral spirit, encompassing engraving, guilloché, and miniature painting—disciplines practiced by Genevan artisans since the 17th century. The exceptional enameling and intricate engraving of this watch reflect a legacy of artistry that Patek Philippe has inherited and carefully safeguarded. In its uncompromising pursuit of excellence, the Sky Moon Tourbillon is a powerful embodiment of that enduring tradition. On the Sky Moon Tourbillon, the date is displayed by a central hand that travels along an arc and instantly jumps back to its starting position at the beginning of each month thanks to the retrograde mechanism. The day, leap-year cycle, and month are each shown in apertures at 9, 12, and 3 o’clock, respectively. The front dial also features a discreet, elegantly integrated moon-phase window that complements the overall layout. Among its many complications are a minute repeater with two cathedral gongs and a tourbillon. The front dial displays mean solar time alongside a perpetual calendar with retrograde date and moon phases, while the reverse reveals astronomical indications, including a chart of the northern sky, sidereal time, and the moon’s phases and orbit. Now discontinued, the Sky Moon Tourbillon in white gold was extremely difficult to acquire at the boutique and was allocated via application, meaning availability was extremely scarce, with waiting lists stretching for years. To the best of our knowledge, only a handful of examples were allocated each year to Patek Philippe’s most loyal and exclusive clients. Applications were reviewed at the brand’s headquarters in Geneva, where decisions were made regarding which clients would be offered these extremely limited pieces. As such, the appearance of the present watch at auction represents a truly momentous occasion.
