One could never find it listed in any Patek Philippe sales catalogue or literature and scholarship leads us to believe it was an off catalogue watch, sold to the most important collectors at the time. It was first introduced in 1937 and discontinued in 1962. There are 34 known gold examples including the present watch, 10 in stainless steel and 15 in pink gold. The size between the lugs varied pending on the case material. Gold cases have a lug width of 19 mm and the stainless steel cases 21.5 mm. The present watch was last seen on the market over 20 years ago. The dial has a lovely two-tone finish and the case is very well preserved with sharp lines and the lugs are nice and thick retaining very good proportions and definition.
