Description: The reference 2551 was one of Patek Philippe’s first automatic wristwatches, powered by the calibre 12 600 AT with Gyromax balance, 30 jewels, and an 18ct gold rotor. Its 36 mm Wenger case earned the nickname “Disco Volante” or “flying saucer” for its wide flat bezel and distinctive rounded profile. Dials were supplied by Stern Frères, with applied markers and clean, minimal branding. Produced in small numbers across precious metals, the 2551 remains a key early automatic reference and a rare find today.
