An emblematic model from 1970, the Beta 21 uses the first quartz movement at Patek Philippe. At the time, several manufactures participated in the launch and financing of the B21 caliber. Some 6,000 movements were produced by the Centre Électronique Horloger in Switzerland, of which 1,000 were delivered to Rolex for the Texano, ref. 5100, and 400 to Patek Philippe for the "Cercle d'Or", ref. 3587. The yellow gold version had three variations depending on the type of bracelet, and two dials were available, blue or gold.110 examples of the ref. 3587/2 in yellow gold with this bracelet, nicknamed "Swiss cheese", were manufactured in Pforzheim, Germany, for Patek Philippe, according to sources, so production was limited.
