Description

Patek Philippe 5970G-001 Grand Complications in White Gold

Collection : Grand Complication Model Reference : 5970G-001 Case/Size : White Gold / 40mm Dial : Silver Movement : Manual winding Functions : Hours, Minutes, Seconds, Chronograph, Perpetual Calendar, Moon-phase, Date Specificity : Discontinued Condition / Year : Very Good / 2008 Box / Papers : Yes / Yes The lineage of reference 5970 is traced back to the great-great-grandfather reference 1518 (1941–1954), followed by reference 2499 (1950–1985), reference 3970 (1985–2004), then reference 5970 (2004–2010), and finally the current production model in the Patek Philippe catalogue, reference 5270 (2010–present). The present watch, reference 5970G-001, is identified as the white-gold variant within the 5970 series. This discontinued model is powered by the last non-manufacture perpetual calendar chronograph movement used by Patek Philippe—based on a Lemania ébauche, though heavily modified and finely finished by the maison. The case has been widely regarded as one of the best designs produced by the Genevan watchmaker. The watch is described in mint condition, with a 40 mm case and a silver/white dial bearing black inscriptions. The perpetual calendar indications are presented via three counters and a double aperture at 12 o’clock. A manual-winding chronograph movement is displayed through the sapphire-crystal caseback, delivering a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. This example of the perpetual calendar chronograph is considered among the most coveted references from Patek Philippe and has, year after year, been recognized as one of the most sought-after modern timepieces of the brand. Viewings of the timepiece can be arranged by appointment only. Patek Philippe
