Known among collectors as the “Hour Glass” for its distinctive curved case and flared lugs, the reference reflects the transition from Art Deco geometry toward more architectural and fluid forms. Crafted in 18k yellow gold and measuring approximately 21.75mm at its narrowest center by 41mm including the lugs, the case features elegant concave and convex lines enhanced by a faceted plexiglass crystal that subtly distorts the dial when viewed from different angles—an intentional design detail that highlights Patek Philippe’s attention to sculptural aesthetics. Produced in limited numbers through the 1960s, with fewer than 1,000 examples made across all metals (500 in yellow gold), the Reference 1593 remains one of the most historically significant fancy-shaped Patek Philippe wristwatches. This example retains its original silvered uneraseable dial with applied solid gold indexes and numerals in excellent overall condition, free of notable patina or discoloration. Powering the watch is the manually wound Patek Philippe Caliber 9-90, an elongated tonneau-shaped movement developed specifically for curved and asymmetrical cases. Introduced in 1934 and finished to the brand’s traditional standards, the caliber features 18 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet overcoil hairspring, and beautifully decorated bridges with Côtes de Genève. The watch also includes a Patek Philippe service receipt dated 2005, further supporting its long-term care and collectability. This 1957 example is offered on a generic Hirsch leather strap and buckle and presents in very good condition for its age, with only small scratches throughout from normal wear and strong overall preservation of the case and crystal. The watch has been tested, inspected by my watchmaker, and runs as it should. It has not been serviced by me and does not require service at this time. The watch will be shipped fully insured with signature confirmation. Please review the photos, as they are part of the description. All timepieces sold by NextWatch.com are guaranteed 100% authentic.
