A curious historical and noted counterfeit by Schwod & Frère (Trading as 'Pateck & Frère') Date: Late 19th century (See notes on case detail below) Movement: Anchor, crown wound and pin set, unsigned Dial: White enamel, outer minute track, Roman numerals, inset subsidiary seconds dial, gilt metal scroll hands, unsigned Case: 18k gold, engine-turned case back with blank central cartouche, gold cuvette, numbered '55768' Size: 48mm Accompaniments: None Note: In 1890, watch trader Armand Schwob of Schwob & Frère, was challenged in court by Patek Philippe & Cie, for maliciously using the brand name 'Pateck- Geneve' in order to sell his watches on the back of Patek's name...a case he subsequently lost quite spectacularly.
