Unique edition of 200 units
This model is one of the grail Panerai collectible watches! With a very short B series special edition of 200 units created worldwide, you won't find many of these in the secondary market. There are many reasons why this particular model is coveted by Panerai collectors. First, it has the titanium patented locking crown. Second, the Luminor Marina style with few functions other that a sub second hand (that has a ton of character) fits the motto of "Less is More". The simple yet dynamic style is what makes Panerai different than any other watch in the world.
The PAM 36 also has a "4 line" dial. The words "Marina Militare" is just below the 12 o'clock marker and the words "Luminor Panerai" just above the 6 o'clock marker. The phrase Marina Militare is only on a handful of watch dials. All of those models are highly collectible. Because Panerai watches were first made for Italian Navy elite divers, the military connection is unique and appreciated! You also will appreciate the tobacco (grey/brown) dial. This color is fabulous looking with the titanium case which is 44mm large.
Another collectible feature found on this model is the tritium painted dial and hands. Other than some transitional models, only one other B series watch had a tritium painted dial. That was the PAM 40 and is also rare and collectible! These were some of the last models to receive Tritium dials. Submersible models received them for several more years, but basic Luminor models received Luminova painted dials and hands. Watch collectors appreciate the tritium dials for two reasons, over time the color becomes creamy white to creamy yellow and will give any watch a warm vintage look. Also, the tritium does not glow as brightly, but can be seen at greater depths than Luminova. This may now have changed, but the Luminova has a green color. Panerai collectors love the creamy patina of the hours, markers and hands. They have a nice contrast to the white words written on the dial. This dial is one of the best and has a GREAT patina and strong contrast.
This package is complete. As a collector, the little things such as the boxes and paperwork make a watch unique and more collectible. Because this PAM 36 is complete, makes it even more special.
