This Panerai Rolex 3646 has a very nice leather strap with the first original buckle. The number 43. This particular Vintage Panerai Rolex 3646 Type G is described in detail on 15 pages in the Vintage Panerai book from Ralf Ehlers. The last series of Reference 3646 Panerai Rolex watches comprises the seven documented watches of Type G. Their number group spans 317488 to 317518 and were the last group of watches produced in 1944. Following on from the Type F watches presented previously. Type G watches exhibit no Rolex stamp inside the case back and are similar in terms of their markings to the Type E watches. These watches were also fitted with the Rolex calibre 618/type 1 with the identifying features described previously. The 317496 is fitted with a tubular Oyster crown. The prominent crown neck, still intact here, is typical of Panerai Rolex watches manufactured in 1944. This watch was fitted with the modified Type 1 Rolex movement 618. The „California Dials“ wre produced by a company called Stern, which was later taken over by Rolex. The case number is located in the top third inside the case back of a Type G watch. The Rolex stamp is also missing from this series of Panerai Rolex watches. An authentic Vintage Panerai Rolex in this condition from 1944 is ultra rare.
