The ProPilot collection from Oris has its roots deep in the aviation tradition of the Swiss watchmaker. As early as 1938, Oris launched its first pilot's watch, the iconic Big Crown, featuring an oversized crown that allowed pilots to operate it easily even while wearing gloves – a design feature that remains a recognizable foundation for the brand's aviation watches to this day. The modern ProPilot line was introduced in 2014 as a fresh interpretation of that classic Big Crown DNA. The initial series featured models such as the Date, the Day/Date, and the Chronograph, all with a distinctive knurled bezel — a design inspired by jet engines with a turbine-like appearance — and strong readability that is also useful in the cockpit. Since then, the collection has gradually expanded and evolved. In addition to the core models in various sizes and complications, the ProPilot family also includes technically remarkable variants such as the ProPilot Altimeter, which combines a built-in mechanical altimeter with classic aviation aesthetics as one of the first automatic mechanical watches. Over the years, the ProPilot line has developed from a purely functional pilot's instrument into a versatile collection that is usable both in the air and on the ground. Technical reliability, strong readability, and the preservation of classic pilot watch elements make it one of the most beloved series within Oris' aviation segment.
