Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 01 400 7769 4157-07

The headquarters of Oris is located in Hölstein, Switzerland. The brand dates back to 1903, but it takes a year for the brand to take off. It is taken over from the founder (Firma Lohner & Nägeln) by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, two watchmakers from Le Locle. Oris primarily focuses on the production of affordable watches, which are made entirely in-house. At its peak (just before the start of World War II), more than a thousand people work there, who are picked up and dropped off by their own bus services! In 1970, the brand launches its first chronograph, the Chronoris (re-released in 2005). Oris, like many watchmakers, is heavily impacted by the quartz crisis of the late seventies, is taken over by the current management, and presents the now-famous Big Crown model in 1982. A balanced collection, the use of good (sourced) movements, and exemplary quality control make modern Oris popular.
