Description

ORFINA, PORSCHE DESIGN CHRONOGRAPH, REF. 7750

CIRCA: 1970s CASE MATERIAL: Black PVD stainless steel CASE DIAMETER: 40mm BRACELET MATERIAL: Black PVD stainless steel BRACELET SIZE: 6.9 inches / 175mm DIAL: Black MOVEMENT: Automatic FUNCTIONS: Chronograph, date CALIBER: 7750 BOX: No PAPERS: No The Porsche Design Chronograph I came out in 1972 and this was the first PVD watch on the market. There were no other all-black watches or companies that customized watches to become all-black like Bamford or Pro-Hunter. Many of these Chronograph I watches are found in poor condition because the PVD would be worn off. This example does show signs of wear, but most of the PVD is in-tact. Porsche Design watches from this era are becoming more sought after by collectors and offer a good value for a PVD coated automatic chronograph with a reliable Valjoux based movement.
