This model traces its roots to the CK 2998 worn by Walter Schirra during the Mercury-Atlas 8 mission in 1962, when a Speedy first left Earth on an astronaut’s wrist. The modern version keeps that second-generation aesthetic intact, just cleaned up and sized for today. The stainless steel case measures a very wearable 39.7mm and sits comfortably on a brown leather strap. Up top, the black aluminum bezel is decorated with the classic tachymeter scale with the all-important Dot Over Ninety collectors love. The grey-blue dial is subtle, finished to echo the tone seen on some original CK 2998 examples from the 1960s. Alpha-style hands and vintage-colored luminescent fill add to the period feel. Flip the watch over, and you’ll find the Seahorse medallion and commemorative engravings that tie everything back to October 3, 1962.
