Rare Omega Speedmaster 'Ed White' Pre-Moon Chronograph stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch, reference no. ST 105 003-65, movement serial no. 2453xxxx, circa 1966, tachymeter bezel, matt black 'T SWISS MADE T' dial with chronograph centre seconds, baton markers, minute markers, triple subsidiary dials, cal. 321 17 jewel movement with inner cap, later non-Omega bracelet, 40mm - ** Private provenance - purchased in the early 1970s by the present owner from a Canadian Army officer. Worn by the current owner on various Military and United Nations helicopter flying operations in Great Britain, Ulster, Cyprus, Belize, Honduras and Jamaica. - ** In 1965 Edward Higgins 'Ed' White (1930-1967) was the first American to 'walk in space' outside of his Gemini 4 capsule. The Omega 105.003 has been coined the 'Ed White' as it was on the wrist of White during this historic milestone in space exploration - ** The production period of the 105.003 was very short, lasting around three years from 1963. In 1966 it was superseded by the 'Professional' ref.105.012 famously worn on the moon in 1969 , Box and Papers - no box or papers. Movement - currently functioning. Dial - nice patina - see images. Glass - Omega glass, with surface marks. Hands - nice patina - see images. Case - surface marks and wear to the bezel insert, typical light marks as expected for the period and regularly worn - see images for full guidance. Crown - Omega crown adjusting correctly.
