Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Chronograph 2210.51.00
Initially released in 1948 and based on watches used by airmen in WWII, the Omega Seamaster has become one of Omega’s best-known collections. Initially, a dress-style watch with thick lugs, the Seamaster was designed to promote daily wear while remaining functional for use in water with 62.5 meters of water resistance. However, the modern Seamaster that we know and love today was born nine years later, in 1957. This was when the Seamaster 300 was released after Omega was inspired to upgrade the Seamaster after they had 50 Seamaster cases with rubber O-ring gaskets tested in 1955, which led them to work with new materials and push their boundaries. Inspired by the same desire to build upon the foundations of the Seamaster before it, Omega launched the Planet Ocean sub-collection in 2005 as their ultimate dive watch, of which included the model we have here, the Planet Ocean Chronograph 600M ref. 2210.51.00 which debuted in 2006 a year after the collection was created. Featuring a 45.5mm stainless steel case with a black dial and bezel and matching accents on its pushers and crown, this large and imposing timepiece offered exceptional timekeeping no matter the circumstance, be it in the water or on land, as the Seamaster collection has always strived to do since its initial launch all those decades ago. Discontinued in 2011, the ref. 2210.51.00 laid the foundations for several large chronograph dive watches from Omega, with its place among the annals of history for Omega fans.

THE DIAL An unconventional color scheme for a dive watch, the ref. 2510.51.00 boasts a black and orange color combination with its black dial boasting some orange accents atop its black dial with orange Arabic numerals.
THE CONSTRUCTION Water resistant to 600m, the ref. 2510.51.00 needed to be a large watch so as to protect its internals, and so this incredibly robust timepiece features a 45.5mm stainless steel case that cuts an imposing figure on the wrist.
